Seattle Public School's re-opening of John Marshall School in the Fall of 2014 was planned to occur in two phases. The first phase occurred in the summer of 2013 and included extensive renovations while the school was still occupied by remaining tenants. Upgrades and modernization included the school's library and kitchen; improvements to classrooms, the administration office, and ADA accessibility; playground upgrades; seismic and safety improvements; electrical, mechanical and plumbing upgrades; interior and exterior lighting upgrades; and improvements to the auditorium, stage and gymnasium. Future work for phase 2 will occur in 2014 and will include science classroom renovations; band and choir renovations; and further improvements to classrooms, ADA accessibility, and seismic and safety improvements.
