FIRM PROFILE

Harthorne Hagen Architects was established in 1954. Our practice has specialized in two areas: architectural design of K-12 educational facilities within Washington State; and commercial/industrial design throughout Washington, Oregon and Alaska. Our office is located in Seattle, Washington, near the shores of Lake Union.

Since 1985, we have designed over 140 school projects including new elementary, middle, and high schools. Many of our projects also include additions and renovations to existing elementary, middle and high schools around much of Washington State, most recently in Sedro-Woolley, North Kitsap, Ferndale, Arlington, Tahoma, and Seattle School Districts.

The principals and staff at Harthorne Hagen have extensive experience in educational design and construction. We work with district administrators and staff to solve their design challenges, and make a special effort to understand our clients' needs and carry that knowledge into the final project design.  Direct involvement by a principal architect in each project has been a distinguishing feature of Harthorne Hagen Architects.

Our commitment to quality design includes functional layout and use of space, effective aesthetic design appropriate to the building use, and quality construction specifications. We show outstanding performance in meeting budget and schedule commitments, as well as minimal change orders, construction delays, and other costly impacts on a client's project.
